GHETTO SESSIONS

Khayelitsha, South Africa

Ghetto Sessions is a live experience of music, theatre and entrepreneurship interwoven with impromptu jam sessions featuring local talents. It is a space for networking and collaboration, with music and performance at its core. Started in the back of a bicycle shop, the sessions are a space that brings together people from various backgrounds to connect over arts and culture, a powerful medium for community building and cross-cultural creativity.

relationship.

We met Siyabonga Mbaba, founder of Ghetto Sessions, in 2020 when collaborating on a short film, Khayelitsha. Inspired by his passion for fostering collaboration and platforming local creatives and entrepreneurs, we collaborated and dreamed with him on the future of Ghetto Sessions. We went on to develop a brand and story for the initiative, and very much enjoyed attending the sessions hosted at Siki’s Koffee Kafe.
