GHETTO SESSIONS

A collaboration with Siyabonga Mbaba

2021

THE VISION: GHETTO SESSIONS

Ghetto Sessions is a live experience of music, theatre and entrepreneurship interwoven with impromptu jam sessions featuring local talents. It is a space for networking and collaboration, with music and performance at its core.

TO START: A NEW LOOK

Working with Siya, we dreamed, schemed and ended up with a variety of directions to play with. Inspired by culture, style and music, we worked with bold shapes and a splash of colour to bring through the vibrancy that is present at all Ghetto Sessions events.

THE BRAND

Ghetto Sessions is a flexible brand, it started off as a jam session in the back of a shop, and has moulded into a space for entrepreneurial development and cultural networking. We wanted to showcase this with a brand design that was equally flexible and timeless.

DATE: A LOOK INSIDE

Siyabonga Mbaba started Ghetto Sessions out of the back of his shop many years ago, and has hustled it to where it is today with the help of many other people in Khayelitsha. The sessions usually take place outside Siki’s Koffee Kafe, and showcase artists from all around South Africa – blending the big names with the up and coming talent!

We may be working on something else with Siya and another friend… but that’s all we’re going to say!
