A short film about the power of cycle tours in supporting entrepreneurs and building community in Khayelitsha, one of the largest townships in the Western Cape, South Africa.
“The name ‘Khayelitsha’ means a new home. During the apartheid days, no one wanted to be there because it’s far from everything. It was like a desert where there was nothing.
Siyabonga Mbaba is a big dreamer and connector of many in and out of the township. He has defined himself as an activist, and community leader and is an incredible networker.
Sikelele Dibela is an entrepreneur and coffee lover who runs his own coffee shop in Khayelitsha. It is a space to enjoy good coffee and collaborate with others.
Lufefe Nomjana is an entrepreneur who started Spinach King in 2011 after being part of an incubation program run in Khayelitsha. Spinach King aims to promote healthy living.
The short film came 6th (out of 2000 entries) at the Nespresso Talent Competition and has gone on to win awards in Italy!
