Visual language for community-led economics
Book design, illustration and information design to bring Grassroots Economics’ community methodology to life
Grassroots Economics is a non-profit foundation partnering with communities to take charge of their own livelihoods and economic future through local resource coordination and alternative economic systems.
Grassroots Economics: Reflections and Practices is a handbook documenting a decade of community-led economic practice and Indigenous resource coordination in Kenya. We designed the book in its entirety: cover, interior layout, original illustrations and information graphics that translate complex economic concepts into something accessible and alive. The designs were adapted across English, French and Spanish to broaden the handbook’s reach. We were also involved in the research and methodology development behind the content itself.
A big thank you to the amazing illustrator Tamsin Lotz who collaborated on this project with us, see her work here.
